CLINICAL INSIGHTS & RECOMEMENDATIONS IN PILATES TRAINING

Delivered by a Alison Lindenbaum, this course gives you the knowledge to be clinically informed, ensuring long-term client retention while building a professional refral network.

OVERVIEW:

The Pilates industry is shifting. Driven by social media and the aesthetic of Reformer-based training, we are seeing a large influx of men and younger women drawn to the perceived intensity of Pilates classes. Men, in particular, often arrive believing that they have a "strong core" and proceed to push the machines, and themselves, to the limit.

However, this "fitness-first" trend is a significant departure from Joseph Pilates's original rationale. His method was rooted in Contrology - the complete coordination of body, mind, and spirit - with a heavy emphasis on corrective, clinical movement. Today’s "more is better" gym mentality often sacrifices that corrective precision for heavy loading, which can lead to significant injury. While standard training is excellent for the "fit and well”, there is a gap when it comes to managing the complex realities of your core demographic: women in their 40s and 50s, and younger, high-stress women.

WHAT WE OFFER:

We bridge this clinical gap by teaching you how to return to that original precision while managing:

The "Fake" Core: How to spot when a client is "bracing" or using superficial muscles rather than the functional, deep stability Joseph Pilates intended.

Osteoporosis (OP) & Osteoarthritis (OA): Building bone density safely and recognizing "joint pinching" (especially in the hips) before it causes injury.

The Younger Stressed Population: Understanding why high-stress lifestyles lead to a Hypertonic (over-active) pelvic floor, where "zipping up" can actually cause more harm than good.

Osteopaths and Physiotherapists are far more likely to refer their patients to an instructor who they know understands clinical safety and can help with rehabilitation.

MODULE 1: CLINICAL PELVIC HEALTH & THE YONILATES TOOL

This session focuses on the practical anatomy of the pelvic floor, using the Yonilates TM framework as a teaching tool to simplify complex, clinical concepts for instructors.

Sphincter Control: Relax & Tone: Moving beyond vague "pelvic floor" cues. We use the Yonilates TM tool to teach instructors how to help clients consciously relax and tone the anal and urethral sphincters. This is the key to managing both stress incontinence and hypertonicity.

The Age Divide: Understanding the Hypertonic pelvic floor in high-stress younger clients versus Prolapse and laxity issues in the 40s and 50s demographic.

Anatomical Precision: Teaching instructors how to visualize the pelvic floor in 3D, ensuring they understand that the "Relax" phase is as vital for strength as the "Tone" phase.

The Men’s Market: Adapting these sphincter-control principles for Post-Prostatectomy recovery and male pelvic pain.

MODULE 2: CLINICAL GEMS, CORE & PERIPHERAL NERVE HEALTH

A focused session to ensure you feel empowered, rather than out of your depth, when faced with "nerve" issues or complex spinal presentations.

Sciatica & Neuropathy: How to manage clients with active Sciatica or Peripheral Neuropathy. We teach you how to avoid "nerve stretching" and instead use "nerve gliding" and safe loading.

The Functional Core vs. The Braced Core: Teaching you how to identify "breath-holding" and "doming." We show you how to re-train a core that reacts to movement rather than one that just "holds on".

Joints & Menopause: Understanding why moves like leg circles need careful modification for OA and Osteoporosis.

CFS & Fatigue: Using Perrin Practitioner insights to support recovery.

The Art of the Finish: A Yoga Nidra session to facilitate a total nervous system reset and prove that functional release is as important as strength.
